I started Sweet Impact in 2013 because I wanted to make a difference.

In 2011, news headlines and documentaries like "The Dark Side of Chocolate" started to catch my attention. Unbeknownst to so many of us chocolate lovers, there was a heavy price being paid, in human currency, for retail chocolate. By January 2013, I was ready to try to do something about it, in my tiny corner of the world. Sweet Impact was born.

Sweet Impact Chocolates is an ethical and delicious choice for the socially conscious chocolate lover. We want to empower our customers to aid humanitarian efforts by providing gourmet confections that you can enjoy without guilt. 

My passion for ethically sourced ingredients springs out of my awareness of how our food choices impact the global community.  The global market is incredibly complex and we can’t guarantee pure ethics and environmental good for every choice, but Sweet Impact seeks to do what we can with whatever information can be gathered by some rather obsessive research.

Sugar has a long (and often ugly) past when it comes to human rights. Sweet Impact is happy to use organic, fair trade sugar as our exclusive sugar for our gourmet handmade chocolates. The rich and complex flavors for our chocolates come from the source; whether it’s cacao from South America, or freshly grown fruit. From butter and milk to vanilla, our confections are 100% all-natural, because quite simply, it just tastes better that way. 

Our ingredients are all-natural, including the coloring used in our painted chocolates. We use local honey, instead of glucose or corn syrup, in our truffles and filled chocolates. We're tiny, so we have the flexibility to continually tweak recipes to see what ways whole ingredients can be used, in place of more processed ones.

Our packaging is biodegradable or compostable, made from 100% recycled content that can also be recycled, or just recyclable. All those labors are to ensure that the decadent, luxurious chocolates you receive will charm your heart, mind, and taste buds.

Environmental and humanitarian issues plaguing the cocoa industry are some of the primary reasons I established Sweet Impact.

Sourcing chocolate is complicated and no one approach solves all issues. We’ve made our chocolate choices based on companies that have proven to have the highest quality chocolate product, while leading the way in using their industry standing to make significant impact in a variety of ways.

Chocolate quality is key to how the confections turn out. The intensity of cocoa and percentage of cocoa butter in a chocolate confection can take it from simply a sweet treat to a luxurious, rich, complex mouthful of decadence. Even the source of the cocoa beans creates a unique flavor signature.

Each of the Sweet Impact chocolates has its own combination of different chocolate intensity levels and sources that provide a wonderful canvas for the other ingredients.
